Carpet Cleaning Plant

One lost carpet
takes ten customers with it.

Barcode tracking per carpet, square-metre pricing, the washing line, collection and delivery routes and seasonal planning. Whose carpet is where and at which stage — read off a screen, not off a label.

Standard wash. Coffee stain pre-treated and removed.

Click a carpet — its status and the technician's note open up.

The barcode label is attached at intake and removed at delivery. That single habit removes the sector's most expensive mistake — carpets getting mixed up. Figures are illustrative.

Don't argue about price by the metre.

Enter width and length and the area and total appear at once. Unit price varies by carpet type; extras are their own lines. What the customer is told matches what goes on the invoice.

This calculator is illustrative. Your own price list, carpet types and extras get set up, and the result can be handed to the customer at intake.

Drying is the plant's real bottleneck.

Washing is fast; drying isn't. Once drying room capacity is exceeded, carpets wait and delivery dates slip. With counts visible per stage, where the blockage sits stops being a matter of opinion.

The drying room is 93% full. When drying approaches red there are two options: slow intake or add capacity. There is no third — and the decision has to come before you quote a delivery date.

You went to collect the carpet and nobody was home.

Collection and delivery are booked in time windows with a reminder sent beforehand. A wasted trip eats the entire margin on that carpet.

The driver takes the customer's signature on screen and scans the carpet barcodes at delivery. Anything not delivered stays open in the system — the delivery list and the plant list reconcile automatically every evening.

You drown for three months and wait for six.

Carpet cleaning is seasonal, and knowing that is the whole of capacity planning. The distribution below is illustrative and gets built from your own history.

October and May are the peaks; January and December the quietest. Knowing last year's curve is what lets you hire before the season and decide on drying capacity at the right time. It is also what makes chasing corporate customers — hotels, offices, mosques — in the quiet months occur to you at all.

The rest of the plant

Intake photographs

Wear and stains are photographed at collection. Most delivery disputes end with those photographs.

Vehicle and driver tracking

Which van is on which route with how many carpets loaded. Anything still in the van shows on the evening close.

Chemical consumption

Chemicals and water per square metre are recorded, producing a real washing cost.

Delivery date estimates

Estimated dates are calculated from line load. What you tell the customer is a calculation, not a guess.

Bulk customers

Hotels, mosques and offices with many carpets are grouped under one order and tracked as a batch.

Uncollected carpets

How long undelivered carpets have sat in the store — after a set period a reminder goes out.

Questions

How do we attach the barcode label to a carpet?

Usually to the fringe or edge with a plastic tie, using a wash-resistant label. Label and printer costs are low and negligible next to the cost of one lost carpet. We discuss which label type suits your process at installation.

Does the system set the price per square metre?

You define the price list — by carpet type and extras. The system calculates area from the size and multiplies by your rate. You can enter a discount at intake if you negotiate, but it is recorded with who applied it.

Does the system calculate drying capacity?

You define the capacity — how many square metres your drying room holds. The system shows load against that and estimates delivery dates from it. Entering it accurately matters; a wrong figure produces wrong estimates.

Can customers check their carpet?

A link opened with the barcode number shows the stage and estimated delivery date. That removes most of the "where is my carpet" calls.

Does it work with our accounting software?

Orders, payments and invoice data can be exported. Tell us which package you use and we'll say before installation whether it's a direct integration or a file transfer.

We have branches but one central plant — does that work?

Yes, and it's a common structure. Branches act as collection points and carpets come to the centre. Every carpet is recorded with the branch it came from and returns to the same one.
