The route is ordered by address density and delivery time windows. The courier can reorder it by hand, and the change is recorded.
See where the parcels get stuck.
An overall delivery rate on its own tells you nothing. To see where you lose, each step of the flow has to be counted separately. The distribution below is illustrative.
Parcels accepted
Total parcels entering the system
Dispatched on a route
32 stayed in the depot — missing address or parcel not ready
Delivered first attempt
This is the real measure. The higher it goes, the lower the cost
Delivered second attempt
Every repeat attempt doubles that parcel's cost
Returned
Undeliverable after three attempts, or the customer changed their mind
A one-point rise in first-attempt delivery removes roughly 70 repeat trips a week from an operation doing a thousand parcels a day. What usually lifts that rate isn't software but telling the customer in advance — the system automates that part.
"I never received it" is met with a document.
Every delivery closes with proof. Whatever option the courier used on their phone is what goes on record; the proof attaches to the parcel and can be shown to the customer.
Photograph
Parcels left at a door or with a neighbour are photographed, with location and time stamped onto the image.
Signature
The recipient signs on the phone screen. Signature, name and time are stored together.
Location record
The position at the moment of delivery is recorded. A delivery that doesn't match the address is flagged in the report.
Verification code
For valuable parcels a code sent to the recipient is scanned by the courier — standing in for an identity check.
Paid at the door, reconciled at the end of the day.
In a cash-on-delivery operation money accumulates on the courier. The system knows how much each courier collected in cash and by card, and compares it with what is handed in.
A courier's day does not close until the difference is explained. Card payments already go to the bank account, so only cash is compared.
The customer is informed before they call you.
A message goes out when the parcel leaves, when the courier gets close, and when it is delivered. Most of the call-centre load disappears with those three messages.
On its way
When the parcel leaves the depot, a message goes out with the estimated delivery window.
Approaching
A few stops before arrival the customer is notified — the chance of nobody being home drops noticeably.
Live tracking link
The customer can open a link and see which stop the courier is on. Whether you share the courier's live position is your choice.
Delivered
A notification goes out with the proof attached. If there is a dispute, the document is already in the customer's hands.
The rest of the operation
Vehicle and courier management
Daily capacity, working zone and vehicle type are defined per courier, and routes are allocated accordingly.
Return flow
An undeliverable parcel enters the return process. How many attempts and what happens afterwards are defined as rules.
Sender reconciliation
Amounts collected at the door are grouped by sender, producing a list of what is owed to which company.
Zones and pricing
Pricing rules by distance, weight and zone. The same parcel never produces two different prices.
Questions
Does the courier's phone have to stay on all day?
The app sends location in the background; the screen does not have to stay awake. In areas without signal, delivery records accumulate on the device and upload when the connection returns.
Is tracking a courier's location legally a problem?
Work-purpose location tracking of an employee during working hours depends on notice and consent requirements. The system makes what is collected and who can see it configurable; the notice text and the process are your responsibility, and we leave the legal assessment to your advisor.
Does the system plan the route?
It proposes an order based on address density and delivery windows. The courier or the operations manager can change it. Real-time replanning against traffic depends on a map service integration — we decide together which service you use.
Can we import parcels from our e-commerce system?
Parcel import is possible for the common e-commerce platforms. Tell us which you use and we'll confirm before installation whether it will be a direct integration or a file transfer.
How many couriers and parcels does it handle?
No limit on either. If daily volume is very high we plan the server separately; there is no per-user fee.
Does it print barcodes and labels?
Yes. Parcel barcodes are generated by the system and labels print from a label printer. If you already use a label format we adapt to it.
